Why Chiropractic?
Many functional neurologists study chiropractic because there is a strong irrefutable connection between the neck, eyes, and vestibular system. When one of these systems is functioning incorrectly, it can manifest as symptoms in all three. Functional Neurologists are uniquely equipped to assess all three symptoms by combining their knowledge of the spine with their training in clinical neuroscience.
One of the reasons you may have a tight neck, chronic muscle knots, or a stiff back that are only temporarily relieved by a massage or chiropractic adjustments is because there may be an underlying problem.
If problems in the brain, eyes, or vestibular system are not addressed, no amount of manual therapy can prevent these issues from returning. Dr. Timko knows that when these root causes of musculoskeletal pain are addressed, the nagging pain often resolves with it.
Dr. Timko’s treatment looks very different than what most people expect from their traditional chiropractor. Dr. Timko acknowledges that spinal adjustments can be a powerful and lifechanging modality, but they are not always necessary in every patient’s case especially those who are experiencing more severe neurological symptoms. Spinal adjustments are just one type of sensory modality that is only used when Dr. Timko believes it can effect positive change in the brain and improve overall health.
